Here we will look at the history of the Persian alphabet and have
links to older Persian alphabets.
The current Persian script
is based
on the Arabic alphabet, but it has many differences. There
are some
different letters, and the sounds of the letters are different.
Also
the Arabic alphabet draws a few of the letters differently. This creates
problems in online Persian writing, especially.
For those of you who are somehow distressed that the Persian
alphabet is based on the Arabic, just think, the Arabic alphabet
is based on an older Aramaic alphabet. Also, Persians really took this alphabet and made it their own.
Probably because this is an attractive alphabet. Just look at those
shapely letters.
