Along with "vAv" and "alef", these five letters break up the cursive line in
a Persian word. They
have only two forms and
will only connect with
the letter preceding
them, but not with a
letter following them. If they follow each other, they don't connect at all
and it looks like print.
dAl and zAl look like boomerangs, re, ze and zhe look like eyelashes. (Although
sometimes when reading,
the re's look like dAls.)
Remember to roll your R's.
Zhe sounds like the French "j" as in "je suis". Many Iranians transliterate it
with a j, but just know
when to say it with that
French panache. "Javad"
is a regular American
J, "Bijan" uses the French
J (our "zh") We will elaborate on these letters and design some nice easy to remember, visual
